Rising almost 5000 feet above Yosemite Valley and 8800 feet above sea level, Half Dome is an iconic Yosemite landmark that's a serious challenge to many hikers.
That's why, in 1865, it was proclaimed "perfectly inaccessible, being probably the only one of the prominent points about Yosemite which never has been, and never will be, trodden by human foot."
But George Anderson proved otherwise in 1875, thus paving the way for todays cable route. Now, thousands of people reach the summit.
It's an exciting, arduous hike, with hundreds of hikers being assisted by park rangers every summer.
The most noteworthy part of the journey is the climb up the cables, two metal ropes reaching 400 feet to the top. Since 1919, only a few have fallen and died, but injuries are common for reckless climbers. The Cables are usually up from the Friday before Memorial Day until the day after Columbus Day.

Ribbed Knit Seamless Collar: Ribbed knit makes the collar highly elastic and helps retain its shape.
Shoulder Tape: Twill tape covers the shoulder seams to stabilize the back of the garment and prevent stretching
Fit & Sizing: This shirt runs a little bit bigger than usual and is designed to have a slightly oversized fit.
Heavyweight Shirt: This is a heavyweight shirt ( 6.0 oz/yd² ). This means it's way more durable and gives it a vintage, slightly oversized style.
